Hi,
We are Christine, Sam and Nico! We can only imagine what a difficult time you must be going through and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for considering us to be parents and a big brother to your child. It is only natural that you would want the very best for your child and we hope that you find that in us.
Sam and I met in elementary school, began dating in 1992 and got married in 1999!! Through the years we have watched each other grow and become the honest, hard working and loving people and parents we are proud to be.
We are blessed with one beautiful son, whom we adopted from birth in March
2005. We are very excited about adopting another child and completing the
family we have dreamed of for so long. We want to assure you that we will
provide your child with a life filled with love, honest and above all else
fun!!!
ABOUT SAM
Sam is a wonderful husband and it amazes me to find that I love him more and
more everyday. He is a very talented handyman and has put many hours of hard
work into renovating our home. Sam comes from a very close knit family.
Sam’s parents have been married for over 40 years!!! He has an older
brother, who is married with 3 kids, and an older sister who is married. Sam
is very laid back and easy going, he gets along well with everyone he meets
and will stop to talk to just about anyone. Sam’s hobbies include hockey,
hockey and more hockey!!!! He has been playing since he was five years old
and continues to play with all his high school buddies; he also coaches an
AA hockey team. Another one of Sam’s hobbies is “drag racing”. He enjoys
spending the odd summer weekend at the race track, usually Cayuga! He is
very mechanically inclined and loves to work on rebuilding race cars. He has
a 1970 ½ Camaro that he is currently working on.
Sam is an amazing DAD!! He adores Nico and spends a great deal of time
playing with him, taking him for walks, going to the park, and just hanging
out with him. He was always ready when it came time for the 3 am feeding or
the poopy diaper that needed changing. When Sam gets home from work, Nico
runs to the door to give his Papa a big hug and kiss!!
Sam began working for his father at The Canadian Pacific Railroad Company
and after completing high school he decided to stay with the company full
time. He has been with the company for over 15 years and is currently
working as a welder.
ABOUT CHRISTINE
Christine is a very loving wife and I am blessed to have her in my life. She
was raised in a home filled with much love and playfulness. Christine’s
parents were married for 27 years, her dad passed away eight months after we
were married. She remains very close with her mom, speaking to her almost
daily! Christine has one older brother, who is married with 4 kids, and one
younger brother, who is getting married next summer! Christine is easy to
talk to and is a great listener. She has several hobbies that keep her busy,
scrap booking, knitting, and ready, just to name a few.
Chistine is a wonderful mother, just like I knew she would be! She is so
happy whenever she is around Nico. They enjoy hanging out together, shopping
at the mall, going to the park, doing crafts, or just playing on the floor!
Christine has a diploma in Early Childhood Education. She worked with
children ranging from infants to school age for over ten years. After her
parental leave, we decided that she would work part time. She is currently
working three days a week with Revenue Canada. This allows her to spend the
majority of time with Nico!
ABOUT NICO
Nico is the joy of our lives! He is such a happy little boy. Nico is an
active little boy and we cannot wait to sign him up for sports as soon as he
is old enough. He is very affectionate; he loves to give hugs and kisses,
even to the dogs!!! Several of our friends have children around the same age
and we are so impressed with how well Nico plays with them. We believe he
will be a wonderful big brother!
ABOUT OUR DOGS
We always said that when we had our own home the first thing we would do was
get a dog. We did a lot of research on breeds and decided to go with a
boxer. Boxers are known to be energetic, playful and very loyal. The
characteristic that sold us though, was that boxers are very fond of
children!! Bruiser is 5 years old and Bianca is 3 years old. They have been
so gentle and patient with Nico and all our nieces and nephews!!
OUR HOME
We live in midtown Toronto in a three bedroom bungalow. It is an older
established area with many old beautiful trees. We have a ravine across the
street and a couple of big parks within minutes from our front door. Sam and
I take much pride in our home because Sam did all the renovations himself!!
We are currently fixing up the front of our house…always something to be
done!
OUR VIEWS ON PARENTING AND ADOPTION
Our catholic backgrounds greatly influence who we are and our values. We
believe that each child is different and unique. What works for one child
may not work for another! We feel that positive re-enforcement is a large
part of child rearing. We do not believe in physical punishment.
We plan to take an active role in our child’s life. We believe that
education is important and will encourage your child to dream big and work
hard to obtain any goal that he/she may have. We will encourage your child
to join any extracurricular activity that may be of interest to him/her.
Sam and I have decided that I will continue to work part time after parental
leave. We are very fortunate to have wonderful parents, each stepping in to
care for Nico the days that I work. They are excited about having another
grandchild to add to the mix!
OUR THOUGHTS ON RELATIONSHIP AND CONTACT
We are laid back and easy going people. We are pretty much open to anything
and are willing to discuss how much or how little contact you would be
comfortable with before and after birth. We would be willing to have an open
relationship that would involve sharing in the naming of your child,
providing letters and pictures a few times per year, maintaining an email
relationship and a couple of visits every year. We believe it is important
for your child to know about his/her adoption and we plan on keeping the
lines of communication open at all times. We look forward to meeting with
you to learn about your hopes and dreams for your child.
We thank you so very much for taking the time to consider us as parents for
you child. Whatever you decide we wish you all the very best and hope that
everything works out the way you want it to.
All the best,
Christine, Sam and Nico
