Dear Expectant Parent(s),

A very warm welcome to you and thank you so very much for taking the time to read our letter!

We really respect you for your decision to make an adoption plan - we know it takes courage and strength. We want to offer you all of our support, consideration and sensitivity throughout the whole process. We are really excited that you are reading this letter and taking some time to get to know us. Here is a little look into our life!

As you start to get to know us through our profile and pictures, you will see that we already have something in common; we both find ourselves in challenging situations. You are pregnant and hope to find a loving family for your baby and we are a loving family who is hoping for a baby to love and join our family. It's this commonality that brings us here to this place. This type of meeting place gives us all ease and a sense of inclusion. It allows you, as the birth parent, to look at adoptive parents at your own pace and in the privacy of your own space, without any pressure. It allows for a safe place for people to come together, find a connection and hopefully work together to plan an amazing adoption. We are glad you are here!

Let us introduce ourselves…we are Sandra, Jerry and Blake. Jerry and I met through mutual friends and there was an instant connection between us. We dated for four years and were married on August 2nd, 1997 – a day that was sunny, incredible and purely magical. We are a caring couple who make a point to smile or laugh every day. We love listening to music and have a great selection on our iPod and most of it is dance music! Our marriage is based on love, respect, trust, loyalty, commitment and communication, and as we mark our thirteenth wedding anniversary this summer, we can say very honestly that each year gets better and better.

We always dreamed about raising children. Initially, we tried to conceive but were not successful - and then we EMBRACED adoption as a way to build our family. Building our family through adoption was an easy decision for us; two of Jerry’s cousins are adopted, and another cousin married a woman with triplets and has adopted them. All of their experiences with adoption have been wonderful. And as you will see here in our profile, we have personally experienced adoption when we adopted our amazing son almost five years ago. We adore being parents and now, we can't wait for the day that we can do it again!

We very much look forward to adopting another baby to nurture and love with all of our hearts – truth be told, our hearts feel as though they’ll burst at the thought of adding another child to love in our family! We hope we are the parents you are hoping and dreaming of finding for your baby. We know that family and siblings are an important part of life and those are the two main things we can offer you and your child with open hearts and open arms.

All our best,

Sandra & Jerry

Happy Blake

Blake is a handsome, healthy, social, delightful and bright 6 year old boy. We enjoy how curious he is and how every day is an opportunity for new discoveries. He loves books, singing, dancing, biking, water, dirt, and arts and crafts. He is fascinated with Disney Cars, Spider-Man, Batman, tractors, trucks, airplanes, helicopters, robots, dinosaurs, and reptiles - a true boy! Blake has eleven cousins whom he sees regularly at family celebrations, school or sleepovers.

Blake is enrolled in soccer, swimming, music, developmental hockey, and karate. All of his classes are very social and extremely fun. We would ensure that your child is involved in an array of sports and activities as well. Blake is in grade one so there would be a lot of one on one time with a new baby in our home. We feel the age difference would be perfect.

When Blake turned three, he started asking for a brother or sister. Our hope is that one day soon, we can tell him that a new family member is on the way. With Blake's huge smile, gentle touch, and loving personality, we know he would make an awesome big brother to your child. Blake has told us that if he had a baby brother or sister, he would help feed, burp and change him or her - he is a wonderful little man in so many regards.

Ten reasons Blake would be a GREAT Big Brother!

1. Someone to share in the fact that they are adopted. It’s totally special!

2. To have someone to ride on a rollercoaster with – especially at Disney World.

3. Someone to ride his bike with.

4. A sibling to build sandcastles with at the cottage.

5. Someone to watch cartoons with early in the morning.

6. Someone to eat pancakes and maple syrup with.

7. To have someone to protect them.

8. Someone to sneak downstairs Christmas morning with to see if Santa has come yet.

9. A sibling to share with.

10. And most importantly, someone to love them….no matter what!

Our Loving Families

Both of us were raised in loving and stable homes that have enjoyed long marriages – both of our parents have been married for more than 40 years!

We enjoy the many privileges of having our families live close by – Jerry’s parents live across the road from us and Sandra’s parents live just around the corner. It makes for a very strong network of love and support within our families. Both families have showered Blake with an abundance of love, and they can’t wait to share their love with another child. They are so thrilled to know that we are planning to adopt a second child.

Our Home – Our Slice of Paradise

We live in a spacious, warm and inviting farmhouse. Our home sits on nearly four acres surrounded by trees. We have a sunny yard full of jungle gym equipment for the kids to play on, along with an in-ground saltwater pool and hot tub. We spot foxes, deer and pheasants running alongside our bush, and we see many different birds frequent our feeders. It's kind of a kids’ paradise really! We live in close proximity to an elementary school, parks, petting zoo, fishing pond, a lake and trails. What we love most about our home is that, although we live minutes away from towns and cities, it is a peaceful sanctuary that provides us with privacy.

Our New Family Cottage!

Our new family cottage is on Lake Huron, just a short drive away from home. Its’ location is just outside of Grand Bend. Grand Bend is great for children with its’ new splash pad and of course, ice cream and French Fry shops along the beach for little kids (and us big kids to enjoy). It’s a four seasons’ log structure so we can relax there all year round, taking in the beauty that this earth has to offer. This will be our first summer at the cottage - we hope we are fortunate to adopt soon so that Blake and his little brother or sister can start traditions and childhood memories together.

Fun things about Spring!

Spring is such a wonderful time of year – birds sing their songs to us, we play in the rain, the grass gets greener, tulips and daffodils make their grand entrance, we get our bikes out, and anticipate the arrival of the Easter Bunny. Easter is fully celebrated at our home - we colour eggs, do crafts and there are countless egg hunts. Sandra’s parents have the best egg hunts - not only will the eggs have jelly beans or chocolate in them, they have money in them! Spring is all about new life – new birds, the new fragrance of flowers in bloom, new leaves on the trees, and new bunnies. And speaking of new bunnies, Blake got two this Easter!! We are adding two Pygmy goats to our new hobby farm in June – they were born just recently and will join us when they are 8 weeks old…we are so excited.

Summer Traditions and Favourites

We are an energetic family and we love to live life to its fullest. In the summer months, we are very active. We really like golfing, enjoy mountain biking, (we have a bike carrier that fits two children for our adventures) four-wheeling, swimming in our pool, hosting barbeques, and having bonfires in our huge backyard - spider dogs, marshmallows and fireworks are a must!

A few times during summer, we head to a family campground or Provincial Park to camp with friends and their children. We thoroughly enjoy the magnitude of activities while camping; splash pads, pools, the playground, train rides, hay rides, and the petting zoo. Every Labour Day weekend, Jerry’s family hosts a family camping extravaganza. We call it that because are delicious barbeque dinners and yummy breakfasts, along with “Olympic” games for the kids, scavenger hunt and bonfires that lights up the sky. We love that we are diversified with our play time; having a camping trailer to camp with and now, a cottage to have fun at!

Favourite Fall Activities

As crispness fills the air and the days get longer, we love going for walks. We’ll take drives up north to see the leaves change colours, and when they fall, we rake a pile right in front of the slide and zoom down into them. Halloween is celebrated by baking cupcakes with icing and gummy spiders on top and trick or treating. There is a fabulous local farm that has a petting zoo, hay rides and corn maze that we visit every year in the fall. And let’s not forget the pumpkins at the pumpkin patch…lots of pumpkins. During the cooler days and evenings, we like to go glow-in-the-dark bowling, play board games and go to the movies more often.

In the Winter…

We enjoy tobogganing, ice skating, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing. Jerry made a skating rink this past winter and it was a huge success so you can bet the tradition will continue! We love to cozy up on the couch with hot chocolate and read books to Blake or watch Disney Cars (sometimes we watch it three times a day!) or a children’s TV show. There is definitely room for one more on our couch! Christmas is one of our favourite holidays – we decorate with lights outside, decorate our tree, (strings of Fruit Loops are a must but most get eaten as we make them!) write a letter to Santa and send it to the North Pole and we await Santa’s arrival as patiently as possible. Christmas is so magical through a child’s eyes that it makes us relive the days of being children all over again!

Our Thoughts about Parenting and Adoption

In our family, we believe that children come first. As parents, we feel we have a lot to offer: a loving home that is full of fun and laughter, patience, understanding, security, and stability. We are being very honest when we tell you that our sole purpose will be to make your child feel special, valued and, most of all, unconditionally loved.

We will encourage your child to follow their heart in terms of the hobbies they prefer — sports, music, art, dance or reading — so that they will flourish with the gifts they possess. We will encourage opportunities for higher education, and guide them through their life decisions.

We believe that kids should be kids – if they sit in puddles and get wet or they get dirty from playing in the mud, no problem! It’s what makes a child so happy and seeing them happy, makes us so very happy.

We should let you know that TimBits have become a food group at our house. They are such tasty treats - especially the chocolate or sugar coated ones with strawberry jam in the middle - delicious! Even though we like to treat ourselves, we are conscious of eating healthy foods also. A vegetable garden is planted every spring; we have apple and pear trees, strawberry patches, and raspberry bushes. We support eating locally grown foods and love to shop at our local Farmer’s Market all year ‘round.

Our arms, hearts, families and home are open and waiting for another child to love, care for and give endless hugs and kisses. We realize that with parenting come challenges and frustrations during some phases of a child’s life. We are not perfect, but we always handle each situation in a very considerate, consistent and loving manner.

We would love the opportunity to connect with you and hear about your hopes and dreams for your child. Adoption has really changed over the years. People tend to stay in touch and have positive open relationships which we feel are healthy for you as the birth parent(s) and the child as they grow. We are really open and hopeful about the future and what it might hold for us all. We hope once a connection is made with us, you will keep in touch through emails, phone calls, pictures and visits.

Our promise to you is that we will always keep you close in our hearts and your child will always know that your adoption plan was made with love. Your child will be loved by us, our families and our friends more than words could ever express, we promise!

With our heartfelt wishes and all the best to you in your search.
